The Truth Party (Finnish: Totuuspuolue, TP) is a registered extra-parliamentary political party in Finland. The party was registered on 26 April 2023.[1]

Ideology

The Party views that the European Union is illegal based on the Finnish Constitution, and seeks that Finland should leave the European Union. The Truth Party can also be described as Russophilic as per its wishes to have a strong economic, political and cultural relationship with Russia, and it also wishes to stop what it sees as "false journalism" by making it illegal and imprisoning anyone who does it. The Party describes the Government as a Mafia Network, and wishes to leave NATO by reason of the Paasikivi–Kekkonen doctrine.[2][3]

Controversy

The Chairperson of the Party, Jaana Kavonius, has demanded the death-penalty for President Sauli Niinistö.[4] She is also facing several charges of defamation and may be looking at a prison sentence of around five years.[5]
