The Scale of the Universe is a 2010 interactive online visualization tool created by Cary and Michael Huang, two brothers from Moraga, California.[1][2][3][4][5]

In 2012, Cary and Michael Huang released The Scale of the Universe 2[6][7][8] which later inspired the Kurzgesagt app Universe in a Nutshell.[9][10]

On 7 October 2018, The Scale of the Universe was featured on NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day.[11]

The Scale of the Universe features a scrollbar that players can use to navigate. Sliding the scrollbar to the left and right causes the screen to zoom in and out respectively. In The Scale of the Universe 2, clicking on objects brings up an infobox which displays information about its respective object.[6]
