Stree 2 is an upcoming Hindi language comedy horror film film directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande anf Suniel Shetty under the banner of Maddock Films and Jio Studios. It is the sequel to Stree (2018), and the fourth installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe. It stars Suniel Shetty, Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in lead roles.

Stree 2 is scheduled for theatrical release on 16 August 2024.[1]

Production

Development

In October 2018, director Amar Kaushik announced that he is planning a sequel to the Stree (2018).[2] However, the original creators Raj and D.K. will not be part of it.[3] In February 2022, actor Rajkummar Rao revealed that the sequel to Stree is planned.[4] As of March 2023, the sequel to the movie is confirmed to be in pre-production stage and will only to floors from July 2023.[5] In April 2023, the makers announced that the film will release on 31 August 2024.[6]

Casting

Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana was chosen to play the lead roles, who reprised their roles from the previous film.[7] In July 2023, Rajkummar Rao officially announced Stree 2 on their social media account with an announcement teaser.[8] In December 2023, it confirmed Tamannaah Bhatia will be featuring in a song in Stree 2.[9]

Filming

Principal photography commenced on 10 July 2023 with a muhuratam puja held in Chanderi. The first schedule was held the same location.[10] The second schedule commenced on November 2023 in Chanderi.[11]

Release

The film is scheduled to be theatrically released on 30 August 2024.[1]
