Rebecca "Becky" Quick (born July 18, 1972) is an American television journalist/newscaster and co-anchorwoman of CNBC's financial news shows Squawk Box and On the Money.

Biography

Early life

Quick grew up in Indiana, Ohio, Texas, and Oklahoma as her geologist father[1] and her family followed "booms" in oil production. The family ultimately settled in Medford, New Jersey.[1]

Education and career

Quick graduated from Rutgers University in 1993 with a BA in Political Science, where she was editor-in-chief of The Daily Targum. As an undergraduate, she was awarded the Times Mirror Fellowship from the Journalism Resources Institute at Rutgers. Prior to her employment at CNBC, she covered retail and e-commerce industry topics for The Wall Street Journal and helped launch the paper's website in April 1996.[2] She served as the site's International News Editor, overseeing foreign affairs coverage.[3] She was a co-moderator of the October 28, 2015, Republican presidential debate.[4]

Over the course of her career, Quick has interviewed some of the world's most influential investors and financial power brokers, including among others: Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Alan Greenspan, T. Boone Pickens, Jamie Dimon, and Charlie Munger.[3] She has also interviewed three U.S. presidents,[3] and hosted the 2007 television documentary "Warren Buffett: The Billionaire Next Door Going Global".

Personal life

Quick was previously married to Peter Shay, a computer programmer.[1] She is currently married to an executive producer of Squawk Box, Matt Quayle (2008–present). On August 16, 2011, CNBC reported that Quick had given birth to a son, Kyle Nathaniel Quayle.[5] In October 2016, Quick gave birth to daughter Kaylie Noelle.

Quick lives in New Jersey with her husband, their children, and his two daughters Natalie and Kimiko.

Awards and Honours

Gracie Awards : Quick has received three Gracie Awards from the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation for her remarkable contributions to television news and reporting. In 2002, 2005, and 2007, she was named Outstanding Anchor in a News or News Magazine Programme, a tribute to her constant competence in on-air delivery and intelligent analysis.

Matrix  Awards : Quick’s contributions to business journalism have been recognized with two Matrix Awards from New York Women in Communications. In 2005, she received the Matrix Award for Outstanding Business Journalism, and in 2008, she was honored with the Matrix Award for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage.

Emmy Awards : The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has also recognised Quick’s work. In 2008, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Morning Programme for her work on “Squawk Box.”

Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism : In 2015, Quick was presented with the prestigious Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism, recognizing her dedication to journalistic integrity, her commitment to public service, and her contributions to the field of financial reporting.

Communicator Award  : Quick’s work as a financial educator has been recognized with the Communicator Award of Excellence from the International Association of Business Communicators. She received the award in 2015 for her book “The 100 Things You Need to Know About Money.”

Financial Literacy Champion Award  : In 2017, Quick was honored with the Financial Literacy Champion Award from the Jump$tart Coalition for Financial Literacy. The award recognizes her commitment to empowering individuals to make informed financial decisions and her contributions to financial literacy education.

Leadership in Financial Literacy Award  : In 2018, Quick received the Leadership in Financial Literacy Award from the Center for Financial Education and Economic Development. The award recognizes her outstanding leadership and advocacy in promoting financial literacy among all segments of the population.[6]
