- 1949 – Pennsylvania Railroad discontinues passenger train service on the Pope's Creek Branch in Maryland.[1]
- 1978 – VIA Rail assumes all passenger train operations of the Canadian Pacific Railway in Canada.
- 1989 – The Lexington Avenue, Roosevelt Island and 21st Street stations on the New York City Subway's 63rd Street Extension open.
- 1995 – A new London Overground North London Line station is opened on the site of Canning Town station.
