- 1905 – The Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway is incorporated.[1]

- 1935 – Diesel locomotives begin to replace steam locomotives on Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's long-distance passenger trains.[1]
- 1950 – Canada's railroad workers go on strike, crippling operations across the country.[2]
