The Baptism of Jesus marks the beginning of Jesus Christ's public ministry. This event is recorded in the Canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke and in the apocryphal Gospel of the Hebrews, but not the Gospel of John. [1] [2]

Baptism of Christ, a sculpture by Andrea Sansovino (1467–1529), with the angel added later by Innocenzo Spinazzi, (1726–1798). Formerly located on the Battistero di San Giovanni, it is now in the Opera del Duomo Museum in Florence, Italy.
