Palomi Ghosh is an Indian film actress best known for her work in Hindi, Konkani, and English language films. She is a recipient of the National Film Award – Special Mention (feature film) for the Konkani musical drama Nachom-ia Kumpasar.[1][2]

Early life

Ghosh was born in Vadodara, Gujarat, India, with roots in West Bengal. Her family moved to the US at an early age.[3] She attended North Carolina State University, where she studied applied mathematics.[4] After moving to Mumbai, she joined acting classes at Anupam Kher's acting institute and started working in theatre. During this time, she appeared in television advertisements for Muthoot Finance, SBI Life, Stayfree, Sunfeast, and Tanishq.[5]

Career

Ghosh made her debut in 2009 with the Australian film The Waiting City. She appeared in the experimental film Gandhi of the Month (2014).[6] Her next release, Nachom-ia Kumpasar (2014), based on the goan singers Lorna Cordeiro and Chris Perry,[7] met with critical acclaim. She received the National Film Award – Special Mention (feature film) at the 62nd National Film Awards. The film went on to win 24 international, 3 national, and 10 state awards, making it the most awarded Konkani film.[8][9] She then appeared in Netflix's sci-fi series Sense8 (2015).

In 2016, she appeared in the critically acclaimed Hotel Salvation, which won numerous international awards,[10][11] followed by K Sera Sera Ghodpachem Ghoddtelem which was featured in many international film festivals.[12][13] The film was selected as the Best Feature Film in Konkani at the 64th National Film Awards.[14][15] She then appeared in the TV series The Good Karma Hospital. She starred in the web series Office Vs. Office (2017).

In 2019, she starred in Alt Balaji's web series Mission Over Mars.[16] She played the role of Meghan, receiving praise. She starred in the Netflix webseries Typewriter (2019),[17] directed by Sujay Ghosh[18] receiving praise for her performance as Jenny Fernandes.[19][20] She played a reporter, video blogger in Satellite Shankar (2019).[21]

She has appeared in the Berkeley Repertory Theater's play Monsoon Wedding, the Musical, which was based on Mira Nair's film of the same name.[22][23] She sang three songs in the movie Helicopter Eela (2018).[24][25]

In 2022, she acted in Tryst With Destiny directed by Prashant Nair.[26]
