Operation Breakwater, also called Operation Break the Wave, was an operation conducted by the Israel Defense Forces(IDF). Triggered by terrorism within Israel,[1][2] the main purpose was to reduce crime and violence in the West Bank.[3]

The IDF conducted several raids and participated in some fire exchanges, in which they were victorious. Around 149 Arabs died during the operation, and 2,000 were arrested.[4][5][6]

In the end of the operation, crime was heavily reduced and "hundreds of lives were saved".[7][8]
