Matthias Helferich (born 14 October 1988) is a German politician for the Alternative for Germany,[1] and a factionless member of the Bundestag since 2021.[2]
Life and politics
Helferich was born in 1988 in the West German city of Dortmund. During his election campaign, his party banned Helferich from holding any office. Hälferich had described himself in messanges as the “friendly face of the NS” (NS=National Socialism). He also spoke of himself as a “democratic Freisler”. During the Nazi era, as President of the People's Court, Roland Freisler was responsible for over 2,000 death sentences. Helferich later tried to relativize his statements as a satire.[3][4]
Helferich was elected to the Bundestag in 2021.[2] He never entered AfD faction and is now a factionless member of the Bundestag.
