Margown (Persian: مارگون; also Romanized as Mārgown and Māregūn; also known as Mārjān and Mārkān)[3] is a city in the Central District of Margown County, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, Iran, and serves as both capital of the district and of the county.[4] The city is also the administrative center for Margown Rural District.

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 2,538 in 497 households, when it was in the former Margown District of Boyer-Ahmad County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 2,706 people in 666 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 3,135 people in 797 households.[2]

In October 2018, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Margown County, with the city of Margown as its capital.[4]
