Ludwig Lazar Basch (12 December 1851 – 25 October 1940) was an Austrian editor and journalist. Beginning in 1881, he worked at the Viennese newspaper Illustrirtes Wiener Extrablatt for over 40 years, covering community affairs and theatre.[1]

On 2 December 1921, Basch was bestowed the Bürger der Stadt Wien ("Citizen of the City of Vienna") award. On 20 October 1925, on the occasion of his retirement, he was awarded the Ehrenring der Stadt Wien ("Ring of Honour of the City of Vienna").[1][2][3] In December 1926, Basch received the Goldenes Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich ("Gold Medal of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria").[1][4]

Basch's wife was pianist and piano teacher Fanny Basch-Mahler, whom he married on 19 March 1882. They had two children: Erwin (1883) and Helene (1884). Basch died in Nazi-controlled Vienna on 25 October 1940, in a retirement home run by the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde.[1]
