Love Lies Bleeding is an upcoming romantic thriller film directed by Rose Glass from a screenplay she co-wrote with Weronika Tofilska. It is a co-production between A24 and Film4. The film stars Kristen Stewart and Katy O'Brian as a gym employee and a bisexual bodybuilder, respectively. The supporting cast includes Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco, and Ed Harris.

Premise

Reclusive gym manager Lou falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.[2]

Production

Love Lies Bleeding is a co-production between A24 and Film4. It is the second film to be directed by English filmmaker Rose Glass. Kristen Stewart first mentioned her involvement in the film in March 2022, as she was a fan of Glass' previous work, Saint Maud;[4] her casting was confirmed in April.[5] Anna Baryshnikov, Katy O'Brian, Dave Franco, Ed Harris, and Jena Malone joined the cast in June.[6][7] O'Brian said in an interview that she had to audition for the part, her first leading role, six times.[8]

Principal photography began Albuquerque, New Mexico, in June 2022.[9] Production concluded by August 2022.[10]

Release

In November 2023, Lionsgate acquired UK distribution rights to the film.[11] In December 2023, it was announced the film will have its world premiere in the Midnight section at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.[12] It will also screen at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival in the Berlinale Special section.[13] The film will be theatrically released in the United States on March 8, 2024 by A24.[14]
