Jean-Simon Desgagnés (born 26 July 1998) is a Canadian track and field athlete who became Canadian national champion in the 3000m steeplechase in 2023.[1]

Career

From Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges, Desgagnés set a 5 km road personal best of 13:59 at Laval University in Quebec August 2020.[2]

He set a new personal best 3000m steeplechase time of 8:20.68 in May 2023, at the Sound Running Track Festival in Walnut, California.[3]

In July 2023, he ran a new personal best in the 3,000 metre steeplechase of 8:17.40 seconds in Székesfehérvár, Hungary.[4] That month he also won his first senior national championship, in the 3000m steeplechase in Langley, British Columbia.[5]

He competed in the 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August 2023, where he qualified for the final. In the final he finished eighth in a personal best time of 8:15.58.[6][7]

Personal life

From Quebec, he is a medical student training to be a doctor.[8][9]
