Jan Jenisch is a German businessman. He currently serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Swiss-based building materials company Holcim. Jenisch formerly served as the CEO of specialty chemical company Sika.

Life and education

Born in Germany in 1966, Jan Jenisch studied in Switzerland and the United States. Jenisch graduated with an MBA from the University of Fribourg.[1] In 2021, he received a Dr.h.c. from the University of Fribourg for his accomplishments as CEO of two SMI companies.[2][3]

Career

Jenisch started his career in 1996 at specialty chemicals company Sika.[4] In 2012, he was appointed CEO of Sika.[2][4][5]

Jan Jenisch has been the chief executive officer of Holcim since 2017 and the chairman of the board of directors since May 2023, after serving as a member of the Board since 2021.[2][3][4][6]

Also in 2021, the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) announced the election of Jan Jenisch as association president.[2][3][7] Jenisch serves on the board of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.[8]

Jenisch sits on the Swiss-Japanese Chamber of Commerce board as a vice president.[3] He is the non-executive director of the privately held Glas Troesch Holding AG Bützberg, Switzerland.[9][10][11]
