Gaurav Prateek (born 18 September 1990) is an Indian actor, producer, poetry writer and television personality[1] who works predominantly in Hindi films.[2] He got a President Award from Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam in 2006[3] and a Governor Award by Vishnu Kant Shastri, Uttar Pradesh in 2001[4].[5] He made his acting debut[6] with Akshay Kumar's best film[7] Mission Raniganj as Diwakar[8][9][10][11]

Gaurav Prateek left engineering to become an actor, started his career in the Indian television industry with Doordarshan TV Show Barrister Roy. Later Prateek was featured in Colors TV show Balika Vadhu in which he got a grey shade character.[12] As an actor, he was associated with Anupam Kher Production since 2006.[13] Gaurav Prateek has been made the brand ambassador of the clothing brand.[14] He was also cast as the lead actor in the music video Uff Teri Kya Baat Hai[15] released by Hungama Play in 2022 and recently completed ad film[16] with Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff.[17][18]

Career

Indian actor Gaurav Prateek has appeared in many films and TV shows. He worked in film Pyaar Ki Miss Call,[19][20] Rukke Padge,[3] Pranali: The Tradition[21] and many more. His Bengali film Srishty: The Creation and Mandbuddhi,[22] is also coming soon.[5][12] He is also the brand ambassador for cosmetic brand, apparel brands.[14] He also did TV shows like Balika Vadhu, Rajat Rekha, Adhikar, and Solah Shringar.[2] His upcoming web series are Ehsaas, Teen Kunware UPK, Ishq Ek Raaz, Unfold Reality, and Pagli, based on true events.[23]

In 2016, he became a part of 2B Radio as a radio jockey and show writer for "Rubaru with Gaurav Prateek".[2] His other movie Humein Haq Chahiye...Haq Se.[24][5] In this film he has played the character of a young guy who is the leader to the Reservation movement for Patidars in Gujarat which released in November 2017.

He continued in theatre during this period he performed Lord Krishna's character in the play MAHARAAS in 2007[25] after Prateek landed his roles in the Hindi-Haryanvi film Rukke Padge[26] with venture actor Rajendra Gupta.[27] He has also performed the role in Bengali film Srishti: The Creation, in which he got a lead role with Ranjeet, Rajesh Sharma and Reema Lagoo. Simultaneously he auditioned for Ali Abbas Zafar's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 2.[6] He has acted in the music video Uff Teri Keya Baat Hai released by Hungama Play in 2020 and Kyun Gaye Tum released by B4U Music in 2022.[25] Prateek is featured in Colors TV show Balika Vadhu in which he got a grey shade character. During start of 2006, he was featured in Doordarshan show Beristar Roy.[12] Gaurav Prateek whose talent has already captivated audiences on TV, is now gearing up for his Bollywood debut in the upcoming movie Mission Raniganj.[28][29] Releasing on October 6, 2023,[30] this Indian Hindi-language survival thriller film, based on the tragic Raniganj Coalfields collapse of 1989 in West Bengal, promises to be an intense cinematic experience.[31][13] His latest movie starts with film Bhuj by director Abhishek Dudhaiya in which he played an important role.[32]

Early life

Gaurav Prateek was born on 18 September 1990 in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.[12][10] He spent his early childhood in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. After he lost his father Late Ramesh Kumar Purwar, he moved to Jhansi with his mother Kiran Gupta[33] and younger sister Swati Gupta Porwal, where he spent his college life. Prateek was studying engineering; he felt that his passion was acting, so he dropped out of engineering[4] and moved to Mumbai to pursue his acting career. Prateek is good at horse raiding, hockey, gymnastics and poetry writing. He got a President Award from Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam in 2006[34] and Governor Award by Vishnu Kant Shastri, Uttar Pradesh in 2001.[35][36]
