Electrify Canada is an incorporation formed by Electrify America to build electric vehicle (EV) direct current (DC) charging infrastructure throughout Canada.[1]

Overview

Electrify Canada was established on May 10, 2018, opened its first charging station in September 2019, and has over 30 station locations open as of July 2022. Electrify Canada aims to continue expansion across Canada, with many locations along major highway routes and within well-traveled metro areas. Its goal is to promote greater Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) adoption by offering an ultra-fast and convenient charging network. Their goal is to fuel today's EVs, as well as the rapid growth in EV models expected from many car companies.[2]

Operations

Electrify Canada currently has agreements with various automakers for their electric vehicles to use its network of chargers to provide discounted charging rates or complimentary charging, including Volkswagen, Audi Canada, Porsche Canada, BMW Canada, and Lucid Motors Canada.

Charging

Electrify Canada has over 30 charging stations across Canada, including many locations along major highway routes and within well-traveled metro areas.

Drivers can find stations through Electrify Canada's website, the Electrify Canada app available on both iOS and Android,  Apple Maps, or through Google Maps. Electrify Canada customers can pay for charging through the mobile app or with a credit card at the chargers. The Electrify Canada mobile app lets users pay through their phone and, with an Electrify Canada Pass+ subscription, users can receive discounted charging.

Electrify Canada has some of the fastest charging speeds available today – deploying high-powered chargers capable of delivering up to 350 kilowatts (kW) for capable vehicles.

Electrify Canada DC fast chargers support several connector types, including Combined Charging System (CCS), CHAdeMO, and, by 2025, North American Charging Standard (NACS). Both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors can be found at most Electrify Canada charging stations and are identified by the teal, green, and blue labels on their chargers. Green Hyper-Fast labels indicate CCS connectors delivering up to 350 kW, teal Ultra-Fast labels indicate CCS connectors delivering up to 150 kW, and blue CHAdeMO labels indicate the charger is equipped with a CHAdeMO connector, capable of delivering up to 50 kW. Select Electrify Canada stations feature J1772 Level 2 Chargers. Because of this, Electrify Canada chargers are compatible with almost every EV model available on the road today. A vehicle’s connector type and maximum charging speed are determined by the vehicle’s manufacturer.
