Etymology
Borrowed from English Zulu, from Zulu umZulu. The change to oxytone perhaps is a direct influence of Spanish demonyms ending with "i" (marroquí, andalusí, etc.), wich are a minority but end with a weak vowel, and indirect influence of more common demonyms ending with -és (francés, inglés, holandés, etc.).
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): (Spain) /θuˈlu/ [θuˈlu]
- IPA(key): (Latin America) /suˈlu/ [suˈlu]
- Rhymes: -u
- Syllabification: zu‧lú
