Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *diš-ūd-tja, a similar formation to mbys, from Proto-Indo-European *wed- (“water”).[1] Alternatively, to be compared with Lithuanian žū́ti (“perish”), žudýti (“slay”), Latvian zùdu (“disappear, get lost”), zaudêt (“lose”), Middle Irish gúas (“danger, peril, jeopardy”).
