wkoll

Maltese

Alternative forms

  • ukoll (after a consonant, mostly also after a pause)

Etymology

Apparently from u + koll (literally “and all”). Probably used at first as a filler at the end of enumerations and then reinterpreted as “too, as well”. Compare the same development in dialectal British English and all.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /wˈkɔll/

Adverb

wkoll

  1. also; too; as well
