From Old Swedish ūsǣl, ūsal, osæll, from Old Norse úsæll, from Proto-Norse *ᚢᚾᛊᚨᛚᛁᛉ (*unsāliz), Proto-Germanic *unsēliz, from *un- (“un-”) + *sēliz (“happy”). Equivalent to o- + säll.
