Etymology
From an unattested *ulm, from Proto-Albanian *ulg(a)ma, from Proto-Indo-European *welg-. Cognate to Old High German welc (“wet”), Lithuanian vìlgyti (“to make wet”), Latvian valgums (“wetness”), Proto-Slavic *vьlgъkъ (“wet”).[1]
