Etymology
From Proto-Finnic *turva, possibly from Proto-Germanic *trūwɔ̄n. Compare Old Norse trúa (“belief”). Cognate to Finnish turva and Votic turva (Rudja). The word was brought into the standard language in example of Finnish.
