1. (dialectal or nonstandard since 1917) alternative form of tjøre (“tar”)
   • 1952, Inge Krokann, Gravlagt av lynet, page 143:

     Det var frami Havdøls-enga Jehans heldt på og brende tjuru[.]

     Jehans was distilling tar in the front end of the "Havdøl" meadow.

   • 1975, Lars M. Fjellstad, Varden lyser på Malmerberget, page 34:

     Tjurua vart nytta som hjulsmurning

     The tar was used to lubricate the wheels.

• This form was the standard form allowed under the scarcely used Midlandsnormalen of 1901 (alongside tjøru). In this paradigm, it had the definite singular form tjuro. These forms faded into oblivion and were definitely defunct by the spelling reform of 1917.
