thelmë

Etymology

From thelë + -më. Alternatively from a hypothetical Proto-Indo-European *ḱelmn̥, enlargement of Proto-Indo-European *ḱel- (to cover; hide; protect) (cf. kallëm), a formation paralleling Latin tegimen which also used a Proto-Indo-European root meaning 'to cover'.

Noun

thelmë f (plural thelma, definite thelma, definite plural thelmat)

  1. scrap of cloth (used for repairing or stuffing clothes or mattresses)
