strike through (third-person singular simple present strikes through, present participle striking through, simple past struck through, past participle struck through or stricken through)

  1. To partly obliterate text by drawing a continuous line through the centre thereof, usually to indicate the deletion of an error or obsolete information.
    Synonyms: cross out, strike out
    Coordinate terms: bold, boldface, embolden, italicize, underline
    It is useful to strike through an incorrect text, leaving it legible, to demonstrate that it is an incorrect usage.
