From Old Norse slíkr, from Proto-Germanic *swalīkaz (“such”), cognate with Norwegian slik, English such, German solch, Dutch zulk, Gothic 𐍃𐍅𐌰𐌻𐌴𐌹𐌺𐍃 (swaleiks). A compound of *swa (“so”) + *-līkaz (“-like”).
