si och så
Swedish
Adverb
- (often preceded by lite) not totally great (somewhat to fairly bad)
- Det brukar vara lite si och så med städningen på hotellet
- The cleaning at the hotel often isn't solid
- – Hur är det med din skadade hamster? – Det är lite si och så.
- – How's your injured hamster doing? ("How is it with your injured hamster?") – It's not entirely great.
Usage notes
- Intuitively, "a bit like so and a bit like so" (with si likely just a modification of så), with an implication of negative things in the mix.
- More negative-sounding than English so-so.
