Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *štramba, close to Old Prussian strambo (“stubble”), Lithuanian strampas (“club, truncheon”), and Proto-Germanic *strambaz, in Norwegian dial, stramb (“strong smell”), Middle Low German stram (“strong, powerful”). Alternatively a derivative of Vulgar Latin *strambus, from Latin strabus, akin to Romanian strâmb.
