Usage notes

When reported upon in formal language, often written together with the next word, as if a compound. However the accentuation is distinct from a prefix: ein scheiß Haus (a shitty house) does not sound like ein Scheißhaus (a shithouse). This spelling is influenced by the fact that the adjective does not allow predicative use and the adverb not isolated use, unlike scheiße, which bears the same meanings, e.g. **Er hat es gemacht, aber scheiß. → only Er hat es gemacht, aber scheiße. (He has done the thing, but sloppily) goes.
