Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *rāgnja, connected to Old Norse røkja (to take care of), Greek ἀρήγω (arḗgō, to assist, to defend).[1] Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *(a)ru(u)ē-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂rew- (to get light, brighten). Compare Armenian արև (arew, sun).[2]
