ruoštis
Lithuanian
Etymology
Of uncertain origin. Probably from an innovative vowel alternant of the root *rauš- found in words like riáušės (“mutiny, riot”), itself likely related to raũsti (“to dig up, root up”),[1] from Proto-Indo-European *h₃rews-, itself an extension of *(H)rewH- (“to tear out, dig out”).[2]
