Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *wragtja, related to rrah.[1] Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *raT(ś)i-, from Proto-Indo-European *ureh1ǵ(h)- (“to strike, beat”). Cognate to Ancient Greek ῥάττω (rháttō, “to strike, beat”).[2]
