Etymology
From Proto-Balto-Slavic *rámbas, according to Pokorny, possibly from Proto-Indo-European *remb- (“to notch, hack”).[1] Cognate with Lithuanian rum̃bas and Proto-Slavic *rǫ̑bъ.
