Etymology

Derived from the root seen in Proto-Balto-Slavic *ránkāˀ (hand, arm) (whence modern Lithuanian rankà (hand, arm)), possibly cognate with Irish comrac (encounter; battle) and Welsh cyfrang (encounter; meeting). Compare Old Prussian senrīnka (collects, 3rd person singular present).[1]
