Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish راقی (rakı), from Arabic عَرَقِيّ (ʕaraqiyy, of liquor), from عَرَق (ʕaraq, arrack, arak, literally condensate), which refers to an ouzo-like liqueur made of raisins. Compare Albanian raki and Aromanian arãchii.
