Etymology

A derivative of an unattested verb *qyej (to blunt), from Proto-Albanian *kēnja, from Proto-Indo-European *ken- (to scratch, to cut). For the semantic development compare Latin obtũsus (blunt) from obtundere (to beat).[1] See also qytë.
