1. to want, to desire

   Qui-cuza vôs querê? ― What do you want?

   Iou querê comê lo-pak-kou. ― I want to eat turnip cake.

   Sâm quim querê? ― Who is it that wants it?

   Iou querê contá vôsso estória pa mundo uví! ― I desire to tell your story for the world to hear!

2. (often with pa) to love

   Iou muto querê pa nôsso terra, Macau! ― I deeply love our land, Macau!

   Iou muto querê pa vôs ― I love you deeply

• querê is possibly the only verb in Macanese to have a distinct negative form, that being quêro.
