The exactly corresponding form is found in Tunisian Arabic قرقّة (ʔruʔʔa, qroqqa, “brooding hen”), South Levantine Arabic قرقة (ʔruʔʔa, qruqqa, “brooding hen”).[1] Compare also North Levantine Arabic قرقة (ʔirʔa, qirqa), كركة (krikka).[2] Related with Arabic قَرَّقَ (qarraqa), كَرَّكَ (karraka, “to cluck”), eventually onomatopoetic.
