  1. (medicine) Transiently high erythrocyte count (RBC count) that does not represent erythrocytosis despite that it would seem to if interpreted in isolation (out of clinical context, ignoring hemoconcentration). Also called relative erythrocytosis, relative polycythemia, or Gaisböck syndrome.
