Etymology
Sino-Vietnamese word from 熱度, composed of 熱 (“heat”) and 度 (“degree”), literally "degree of hotness", especially high temperature. The usual word for "temperature" in other Sinospheric languages literally means "degree of warmth"; see Chinese 溫度/温度 (wēn dù), Japanese 温度 (ondo) and Korean 온도 (ondo).
