Etymology

Sino-Vietnamese word from 熱度, composed of (heat) and (degree), literally "degree of hotness", especially high temperature. The usual word for "temperature" in other Sinospheric languages literally means "degree of warmth"; see Chinese 溫度温度 (wēn dù), Japanese 温度 (ondo) and Korean 온도 (ondo).
