neurocord (plural neurocords)

  1. (zoology) A cord-like organ composed of elastic fibres, situated above the ventral nervous cord of annelids such as the earthworm.
    • 2005, Ann B. Butler, William Hodos, Comparative Vertebrate Neuroanatomy: Evolution and Adaptation:
      A neurocord, which does have a central lumen, is formed by invaginated nervous tissue in the intermediately located collar and connects the dorsal nerve cords of the proboscis and the trunk.
