- (genetics) A structural analog of natural nucleic acid used to modify gene expression, in which the ribose or deoxyribose rings of nucleic acids are replaced with morpholine rings and the phosphodiester intersubunit linkages of nucleic acids are replaced with phosphorodiamidate linkages.
