  1. (Brazil) tiny, little, wee; often in compound animal names of Tupi origin, such as "tamanduá-mirim".
  2. Having childlike, juvenile characteristics; childish.
  3. Suitable for children or made for them: "a escola tem um jardim mirim" (the school has a kindergarten).
  4. (sports) In football, a category for players in the 14-year age group.
  5. (grammar) Also appears as a bound root in compounds of Tupi origin, like "Itapemirim", "Guandumirim".
