From Proto-Albanian *mīrā- from older Proto-Albanian *meirā[2] Proto-Indo-European *meih₁-ro (“peace”)[3] (compare Proto-Balto-Slavic *meiˀrás (“peace”), Proto-Slavic *milъ (“nice, gentle, mild”)), enlargement of *meih₁- (“soft, mild”) (compare Latin mītis (“soft (not chewy)”)).
