landskommunsvapen
Swedish

Landskommunsvapen
Etymology
landskommun (“rural municipality”) + -s- + vapen (“arms”)
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /landskɔmʉːnsvɑːpɛn/
Usage notes
Nowadays, this term is mostly used in describing historical conditions, as the distinction between rural municipalities and cities has been abolished in Sweden and Finland. Originally, the distinction was however heraldically significant, as arms for rural municipalities are a significantly newer phenomenon than those of cities.
