Etymology
Probably from Proto-Indo-European *gew- (“to bend, curve; arch, vault”), with the original meaning possibly being "a room at the top corner of a castle", and related to Persian گوشه (guše, “corner, angle”) and Avestan 𐬔𐬀𐬊𐬱𐬀𐬐𐬀 (gaošaka, “corner”).[1]
