From Malay kemenyan. Cognate of Thai กำยาน (gam-yaan, “benzoin”), Khmer កំញាន (kɑmñaan), Western Cham [script needed] (kamơñan), Burmese ကက္ကုကမျဉ်း (kakku.ka.myany:).
