From Ottoman Turkish قاوشمق (kavuşmak), from Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (qavušmaq), from *qabuš-, from Proto-Turkic *kab-. Cognate with Kazakh қауысу (qauysu), Azerbaijani qovuşmaq, etc.
