Etymology
Probably inherited from Sanskrit कूर्पर (kūrpara)[1], with the first vowel assimilating to the second. In this case, the intermediate stage is represented by Prakrit 𑀓𑀼𑀧𑁆𑀧𑀭 (kuppara).
